Murapara Jomiar Bari is located in Rupganj of Narayanganj district. It’s not that far from Dhaka. One could make a day trip and visit the place easily. This palace was built during 1890 by Ramratan Banarjee. He was a trusted person of a British Indigo Planter during the British Colonial period. When the indigo planter left the country after the death of his daughter, he gifted plenty of golds and money to Ramratan. Using those he built this mammoth house.
During the war 1971, many collections from the Murapara Jomidar Bari was plundered by local people. I came to know that there were a pair of lion’s statue at the gate of the premise, and both of those were stolen that time. After the war, this palace was used as a refuge camp for the non Bangladeshi people.
After the liberation war local people have established a college using the Jomidar Bari buildings. This building was renovated several times, and now it just lost all its heritage value. But still you could visit the place during weekend or any other holidays.
There are two large ponds located inside the Jomidar Bari premise. One is at the front side and another one at the back side. You could have a sit at the bench made from stone (now only brick) to get some fresh air. There are few wetlands located at the eastern side of the premise. You could see some birds (if you are a birdwatcher).
There are two old temples located at the westerns side of the premise. One of the temples is known as Durga temple and the other one as Shiva temple. The river Sitalakkha is flowing at the western side of the Murapara Jomidar Bari. Also there are plenty of open spaces around the place. It would be nice to bring your kids so that they can have a running around.
How to go:
If you are from Dhaka you have to use the Murapara road from the Dhaka – Chittagong highway. You could catch the road from the Rupshi. If you are lost you could ask for the direction of Murapara college. It is a landmark there.
Best time to visit:
As this place is now function as a college that’s why it would be better to visit the place during a weekend of during government holidays. Cause during the weekdays this place would be full with students. And that would be hard to explore the place. Also you could visit the place during afternoon during weekdays after the college hours.

Is there any hotel at chief rate to stay here? ?
I think you are related to our family then. My maternal grandfather was the eldest of the Ganguly brothers. his mother was Rama Banerjee daughter of the house. Her first three children were born at Murapara as the daughters never went to their in-law's house and had the tradition of gear jamai. Her husband had to fight in the courts for restoration of conjugal right to take his wife with him. My grandmother also had memories of that palace that are rather interesting including the story that my grandfather and his brother would ride on the back of the elephant belowari and take a round of their estate every single evening…good to know there are people who want to connect to our glorious and historical past

Is this Murapara beside the river Shitalakshya ? If so this is where my mother was born of a Gangully family said to be relation to Banerjee zaminder family and was married off to another Banerjee family at Badyerbazar on the western bank of Meghna.Of course she is long dead and i could not varify more details.
I don't have that information. First time I went there using car and second time I went there by walking from Dhaka. Didn't use public bus.

My suggestion will be to go to the Dhaka-Comilla highway from your place. And from there ask anyone, I believe they can guide you further.

It is open (means doesn't have boundary). It is better to visit during weekends or holidays as other days may have class going on! Doesn't require tickets.
Is it open for all time ??? Any ticketing system or Clse on govt. Hoidays??? Etc etc conditions !!
