Government Rajendra University College, Faridpur

Government Rajendra University College ( or Sarkari Rajendra College) is located in Faridpur town. This college was established in 1918 by Ambica Charan Mazumdar. Initially it was not listed by the government. But later in 1968 it was listed by the government. This is the oldest college from Faridpur.

This was the old academic building for the college. But now it is in ruin.

Famous Bangladeshi poet Jasim Uddin was a student from Rajendra college, and was working with the university of Kolkata from here for research purposes. When I went inside the college premises, I found an abandoned building. I think during the early days of the college it was an academic building.

Nice Roman style column from one of the old building. This was near the Chemistry lab.

But now some new buildings are being raised up, and we don’t need the old one anymore. Inside the college building, the pillars from the corridor are really eye-catching. The round pillars are having ornate at the top, and it seems the mixture of British and Muslim culture.

A big playground that belongs to the college.

This was my first day in Faridpur town. I decided to visit the town using a battery driven vehicle, and took a snap of all the well known edifices from the town. When I reached near the Rajendra College I decided to visit the place.
