Tagore Lodge in Kushtia

Tagore lodge is a small two storey building located near the Mohini mills of Kushtia district. It is a duplex house where each floor contains around 3-4 rooms. The famous poet Rabindranath Tagore established this lodge there to conduct the business around that area (at that time it was an industrial area). It is not that much popular tourist attraction, but a lot of Tagore’s fans visit this lodge when they visit Kushtia. During the festival time the authority arranges programs in this lodge.

It was around 8:30am in the morning. After enjoying the sun rising over the river I have moved towards this Tagore Lodge. This was just a few minutes rickshaw ride from the main town of Kushtia. It was the 149th birth day of our poet on that day. Local authority had arranged a cultural program in the Tagore lodge. Everyone was allowed to enjoy the program. Also the authority welcomed us with a small snack called Doi-chira (Curd and Flattened rice). I was happy by their hospitality. There was a cultural program going on inside the lodge area. One of the participating groups was performing a Rabindra Sangeet. I spent a while there to enjoy the performance.

A cultural program was arranged to commemorate the birthday of the poet Rabindranath Tagore.

How to Go:

You might confuse the rickshaw pullers by using the name Tagore lodge. Also if you ask them about the Thakur bari they would assume the Kuthi bari at Shelaidah. I’d suggest you to use the name Thakur bari beside Mohini mills (Also Millpara). This would make the task easier for you and them. Gps coordinate of Tagore lodge is (23°54’05.6″N, 89°08’46.2″E).
