Glencree is a nice little valley that is located in Wicklow mountain, but very close to the Dublin city. During summer (or before summer) this place is very green with plenty of colorful plants like Common broom, Wild garlic, Bluebells, and many more. A tiny river Glencree (named after the valley) is flowing through before falling into river Dargle. During Autumn there are several plants which bring colorful leafs. The popular walking trail The Wicklow Way is using part of Glencree valley.
This valley is nice for walking and exploring around. It is really fun to walk inside trees. Walking around the Glencree river is very relaxing as well. During our visit, portion of the river bank was covered with Wild garlic flowers. The small bridge over the river was very simple, like an old village. Under the bridge there were few large rocks where anyone could sit and relax for a while.
There are several activities which a visitors could do around the Glencree valley. It has a small German war cemetery, a little church named St Kevin’s Church, Glencree center for peace and reconciliation, Old British barrack, etc.
Car park
There is a very large parking space available near the Glencree valley (possibly because lot of visitors use to come here during summer). GPS Coordinate of the car park is (53°09’54.5″N, 6°13’03.0″W). This parking is suitable if you are exploring the Glencree valley.
There are also few layover parkings available on the way while you are driving. Few of those places gives a bird’s eye view over the Glencree valley. During autumn those plants might look colorful.
