There is a nice short drive available through the valley of Lackaduff which is near the Maghera of county Donegal, Ireland. This place is also just few kilometer apart from the popular waterfall named Assaranca in Donegal. After visiting the waterfall we have headed towards the valley, and later drove through the village Crove and Carrick until we’ve reached to Slieve League.
The road through the Lackaduff valley was picturesquely beautiful. The road was narrow, but not that much difficult one. Also due to the rain (and also at the end of the day) the road was empty (except few locals were passing). Due to the rain we couldn’t stay outside for much longer. We’ve given few pauses through the drive and enjoyed the beauty from the car. There were several parking spots along the way for the tourists I guess.
There is a small stream (also a waterfall) flowing through the valley. Despite of heavy rain, it didn’t have much water in it. My initial plan was to go near the stream, but had to cancel it because of the rain. Instead I’ve enjoyed it from the far.
Initially our plan was to explore the cave and the beach of Maghera (which is near from the valley). But due to the weather we couldn’t go there. Instead after exploring the valley we continued our driving through the village of Crove and Carrick until we’ve reached at the Slieve League. It wasn’t our intention to visit it during that tour. We just went there as we had nothing to do, and also we were returning to the Bundoran (where we’ve stayed in night).
Finally, the drive through N56 and N15 on the way to Bundoran was thrilling as we had to drive during night, rain, and unknown Irish road. Around 10pm by night we’ve returned back to the town. We bought our dinner (chicken and lamb biriyani) from a restaurant named Taj Mahal which was very close from our B&B.
