There was an Armenian community in Dhaka between 17th and 18th century. During that period Armenians built several infrastructures including churches, schools, and others. Armenian Church is one of those edifices. This Armenian church was built in 1781. And one of the oldest churches in Dhaka. Most of the times this church remains closed, except between 11:00am to 12:00pm in Sunday. Only that one hour window is available for the visitors.
How to Go:
Armenian church is located at Armani Tola near the Naya Bazar. Also to make the things easier, it’s near from the start of the bridge of Babu bazar bridge. If you take a rickshaw from Naya Bazar, or any places near from that area then they’d drop you to the Armenian church. GPS Coordinate of the church is (23°42’44.8″N, 90°24’08.0″E).
When to visit
If you visit the Armenian church then make sure you are in Sunday, and of course you are at 11:00am. Otherwise you have to watch the church from the buildings which are the proximity of the church. It has a nice view from top. I couldn’t go inside the church premise, it was a pity.
