Bhadra (also Bhadra) is a river from Jessore district. This river is influenced by high and low tide. And based on that its water level rises dramatically. This Bhodra river originates from Kopotakkho river in Jessore. After that this river merges with Horihor river near Chuknogor of Khulna. At that area this river is known as Buri Bhodra river. After that it takes many rivers as an input and finally falls at the joining point of Shibsha and Poshur river in Khulna. According to the Wikipedia the length of the river is approximately 200 kilometer.

Due to the tidal influence, the water of the river is salty. During the low tide Bhodra doesn’t have too much water in it. Just looks like a dead river. Kopotakkho river is already a moribund river and as this Bhodra originated from there it also inherited the same fate. Also at the upper stream of the river people are blocking the river so that they can use it as a fishing farm. All together the situation for the river is very poor.

Being flowing through the plain land of Bangladesh, the riverside scenery is very beautiful. Though the water of the river is very muddy. Because of salty water it is hard to see any kind of fishing activities around the river. We encountered the river several times during our Jessore tour.
