Chhoto Sona Mosque(ছোট সোনা মসজিদ) is located at the Shivgonj(শিবগঞ্জ) of Chapainawabganj(চাপাইনবাবগঞ্জ) district. From the inscription, its found that the mosque was built by someone Wali Ahmed between 1493-1519 during the period of Sultan Hossein Shah.

The mosque is having total 15 domes at the top. Walls are built using thin brick, but after that it was wrapped with black stone to enhance the girth of the mosque’s wall. There are four octagonal pillars available at the four corners of the mosque. The mosque wall is ornate with leafs, vines and similar kind of objects.

The domes of the mosque were wrapped with thin layer of gold, or with similar kind of objects. That’s why people use to call this as Golden Mosque(সোনা মসজিদ). Since there is another mosque is available at India which is similar to this one but a bit larger, that’s why it is known as Chhoto Shona Mosque(ছোট সোনা মসজিদ).
