Sultan Ghiyasuddin Azam Shah was the third Sultan of Bengal during the 14th century. His tomb is located in the Mugrapara of Sonargaon. Sultan died during 1411 AD, and people believed that he was buried here. I heard there are three graves at that place, but I’m not sure who are the others exactly. I asked an old man there, and he identified Giyasuddin as the Badshah (king) of Delhi. I was wondering how come a king of Delhi was buried in a remote place like this one!
Anyway, for this weekend, at the very first day of May I decided to travel around the Sonargaon of Narayanganj. According to my plan I first visited this tomb of Sultan Ghiyasuddin Azam Shah. The tomb was just 200-300 meter East of the Pach Pir Dorgah. Most of the people don’t know much about the place. So you have to take a rickshaw from the Mugrapara junction and ask him to take you at Pach Pirer Dorga. Before reaching that place you’d find the tomb at the right side of the road. In fact I went to the Pach Pir Dorgah, there are 5 Pir (religious person) buried, and you’d find their tombs there.
There are lots of controversies available about this tomb. If you have enough time you could read those from Google. But this is a place you can visit. I’m not telling you it’s a must visit place. It is just a historical place. Also, don’t leave your rickshaw puller there. Keep that guy with you, cause you have to get back to the place from where you started. It would be a bit harder to get a rickshaw from that place.
How to Go:
You can take bus from Gulistan. There are two bus services available, one is Sonargaon service, and another one is Borak. Bus fare is 30 Taka. Leave the bus at Mugrapara crossing. Also you could take the bus of Comilla or Daudkandi, and leave the bus at Mugrapara crossing. It would take you around 40 minutes to one hour to reach at the place. From there take a rickshaw as I’ve mentioned above.
