Groyen Badh (in English Groyen dam) is located in Sariyakandi of Bogura district. It was built to protect the locality from the fierce river Jamuna. During the rainy season this could be a nice place to see the vast Jamuna river. During the afternoon a lot of local people come here for the hangout. Very few tourists or visitors from outside the area usually come here. The name of the hangout place is known as Kalitola Ghat.
When we reached near the Groyen badh, the sun was already gone. It was hard to take any picture due to the darkness. But slowly the moon started to rise in the sky and made everything as bright as possible. It was the night of Buddha Purnima festival (a full moon night). After enjoying a breezy moment by walking around we hired a boat to explore the river for a while. We anchored the boat in the middle of nowhere and enjoyed the full moon from the middle of Jamuna river. Under the moon we could see very far away. It was eerie but adventurous. We spent an hour there. Wish we could stop the clock and stay there for more.
Sariakandi is more than one hour by bus from Bogura town, and the condition of the road is not that good. But the scenic beauty at both sides of the road is exciting. Also, the River Bangali would be on your way when you are going. This is not a famous river, and even before going there I didn’t know about the river. So when we asked a local guy about the river we thought he was making fun with us. But later found it is really named as Bangali river. To reach there we rented a vehicle from Dhaka and went there with that vehicle. Local people were very helpful to provide us the directions for Groyen Badh.
