The name of the waterfall is Risang (or Richang), which also pronounced as Resung, or Rechong. This beautiful waterfall is located in Khagrachhari district. This became one of the most visited tourist spots which is close to the town. This small but picturesque waterfall is just around 10-12 kilometer apart from the Khagrachhari town.
How to go:
There are several options to reach to the Risang waterfall. Several bus services use to leave from the bus terminal for Chittagong and Feni. You could take any one of those. It would be only 15 Taka bus fare for each person (as of year 2010). Tell your bus driver that you would like to visit the waterfall and they would drop you where you should be. Also you could take your own vehicle, or hire CNG driven auto rickshaw to go there. GPS Coordinate of the waterfall is (23°03’58.3″N, 91°56’36.7″E).
Beside the highway, you could find a signboard which shows the direction for Risang waterfall. From the highway it is approximately 2.1 kilometer walking distance. But if you have your own vehicle (or hired a private one) you could use that. But I’d suggest you to use to walk as the scenic beauty around the walking path is really magnificent. There are numerous hills around the path. During rainy season the environment is truly green.
To get near to the waterfall local authority has made a stair for the tourists. It was rainy season, and the amount of water flowing from the waterfall was huge. After falling the water from the top it is just sliding over the rocks. It could be luring to slide your bum over the greasy rocks. Also you could be tempted to get near the bottom of the waterfall. During rainy season that place could be slippery. Also I saw a kid fall from there and broke his arm. So before doing anything make sure you are not ruining your vacation.
Being rainy season there was huge flow in the Risang waterfall. The Jhiri path (stream) near the waterfall was full with water. During dry season it would be nice to walk around the Jhiri. But during rainy season it was really dangerous to do. Also This water is going to for another waterfall after several hundred yards. So better stay away from there.
This Risang waterfall is located at the bottom of the hill. That’s why from the top of the hill you have to go downwards all the way. Which means you have to return back through the same path. It requires a good amount of uphill walking. So be prepared for this.
