Kishoreganj: Sadi Mosque

After visiting the beautiful Shah Mahmud Mosque, I have moved forward to visit the Sadi Mosjid(সাদী মসজিদ) which is around half a kilometer apart from there. On my way I have passed beside the Egarosindur(এগারোসিন্দুর) Fort(though nothing is remaining now days) but didn’t feel any interest to visit this. It was just after the Jumma(জুম্মা) Prayer. People were started leaving the mosque after their prayer.

Sadi Mosque(সাদী মসজিদ) is a single domed mosque similar to the Shah Mahmud Mosque. A large dome is available atop of the mosque which almost cover the whole roof. The dome is quite large and bulbous. Its a different type of dome I must say.

The mosque has a shape of square where each sides are measured as 25 ft in length. The mosque has decorative terracotta at the outer side and the inner side of the mosque. Sadi mosque(সাদী মসজিদ) was built by someone named Sadi(সাদী) who was the son of Shaikh Shiru(শাইখ শিরু). It was during 1652, the regime of Shahjahan(শাহজাহান).

How to Go:

Sadi Mosque(সাদী মসজিদ) is located at the Egarosindur(এগারোসিন্দুর) village of Pakundia Upozila(পাকুন্দিয়া উপজেলা) of Kishoreganj(কিশোরগঞ্জ) district. You can visit the mosque from Dhaka, or from Kishoreganj(কিশোরগঞ্জ). In either cases its easy to find the mosque.

1) First come to the Goyalghat(গোয়ালঘাট) of Egarosindur(এগারোসিন্দুর). GPS Coordinate of Goyalghat is (24°15’45.64″N, 90°39’23.85″E).

a) If you are from Dhaka, then use the bus of Jolshiri(জলসিড়ি) or Ononna(অনন্যা) of Kishoreganj(কিশোরগঞ্জ) district, or use the bus Bonna(বন্যা) of Nandail(নান্দাইল). All are available from Mohakhali(মহাখালী) Bus stand. Bus fare will be around 130 taka. Just inform the bus helper to drop you at Goyalghat(গোয়ালঘাট).

b) If you are from Kishoreganj(কিশোরগঞ্জ) then you have to use CNG auto rickshaw from Kishoreganj(কিশোরগঞ্জ) to Pakundia(পাকুন্দিয়া). And then use again CNG auto rickshaw or Battery driven auto rickshaw to reach Goyalghat(গোয়ালঘাট) from Pakundia(পাকুন্দিয়া). The fare will be 30 + 25, in total 55 taka.

2) Sadi Mosjid(সাদী মসজিদ) is located at a walking distance from the Goyalghat(গোয়ালঘাট). GPS coordinate of the mosque is ( 24°15’44.78″N, 90°39’34.86″E).
