Tetulia Shahi Mosque(তেঁতুলিয়া শাহী মসজিদ) is located at the Tetulia(তেঁতুলিয়া) village of Tala Upazila(তালা উপজেলা) of Satkhira district(সাতক্ষীরা জেলা) of Bangladesh. After finishing a lunch from the famous Abbas Hotel at Chuknogor, we have hired a motor bike to reach at the Tetulia Mosque(তেঁতুলিয়া মসজিদ). The mosque is located just beside the Khulna-Tala(খুলনা-তালা) road. It took around 20 minutes to reach near at the mosque.
This Tetulia Shahi Mosque(তেঁতুলিয়া শাহী মসজিদ) was built by Jomidar Kazi Salamatullah Khan(জমিদার কাজী সালামতুল্লাহ খান). Not sure about the exact date, but probably its more than two hundred years of old mosque(some people say its around 1270 of Bengali Calender). This mosque was in a dilapidated condition for several years, but later the Department of Bangladesh Archaeology has taken a care for this old edifice and have done an adequate restoration and thus its still standing firm.
This is a 6 dome mosque having three domes in two rows. Total count of minarets are 20. Each corner is having 2 minarets, one is shorter and another is taller, total 8. Middle of each side is having another minarets, which means four sides are having total 4. At the top of each domes it is having one minaret, means another 6. Eastern side of the mosque having at the two additional minarets, which means total 20. Length of the minarets are varying. Few are much taller and can be seen from far distance over the trees.
How to Go:
This mosque is located at the Satkhira district(সাতক্ষীরা জেলা) of Bangladesh. More precisely at the Tala Upazila(তালা উপজেলা), and village name is Tetulia(তেঁতুলিয়া). The condition of road is handy. But only problem is the public transportation(if you are relying on the public transport like me). I’ll suggest you to take motorbike to reach near this place instead of bus. Otherwise you have to wait for a bus.
We have gone there from Chuknogor(চুকনগর). But from Satkhira(সাতক্ষীরা), you may find available bus services. But as per my observation, this portion of our country is always charming if you use motorbikes as a transport.
