Most of the towns and districts from Bangladesh (even in other countries) were developed beside a river or any other water sources. Narayanganj not different from those cities. It is situated beside the famous river Sitalakkha. Probably the origin of the river is Old Brahammaputra river. And after flowing approximately 110 kilometer the river joined with Dhaleswari.
There are numerous number of industries are located beside this Shitalakkha river. When the communication wasn’t developed that enough, this river played a vital role to transport goods from the factories to the rest of the world. Even in current days this river is a good medium for transportation.
