There are very few places in Bangladesh from where you could enjoy both the sunset and sunrise. Saint Martin’s Island is one of those lucky places. From the island it is possible to enjoy sunset and sunrise easily. We stayed two days there, and everyday we enjoyed the sun rising in the morning. Best place to watch the sunrise in St Martin’s Island is from the Eastern side of the island.
To see the sunrise you have to wake up early in the morning. And if the sunrise watching spot is far from your hotel then you have to walk for a while. That’s why we choose to stay near the eastern side of St Martin’s Island. 06:42am in the morning was the sunrise time for the day. So we woke up at 06:30am in the morning and within a minute reached the beach beside our hotel. In fact it was possible to watch the sunrise from the doorstep of our hotel room.
The sky around the beach was a bit foggy as it was winter. I was a bit tense about the view of the sunrise. But slowly the sun started to show its face. I watched a lot of sunrises in my life, but never experienced anything on the sea or river. Also none of those were from the zero minute. So I was exalted by my first such experience. It was kind of nothing in the eastern sky and suddenly a portion of a red ball appeared a few meters above the sea level. And slowly that converts into a red ball.
In the morning the weather was chilling and the wind from the ocean was blowing heavily as it was winter. It was a different kind of feeling. There was a large group who were also with us to enjoy that spectacular sunrise. Bonus was the invigorating breezes from the ocean. Those exuberant groups were doing some light exercise on the beach too. It would be nice to stay in the tent during the night and enjoy the sunrise from the tent. Think about it if you are adventurous.
